What is Meditation?
Updated: Apr 23
Last week I talked about a simple way to meditate for beginners. Today I'm going to talk about why meditation is important and what meditation actually is.
It has been said that prayer is talking to God and meditation is listening to God. I believe in this truth and that's why both are important for a spiritual life.
There is a Supreme Universal Intelligence (God) available to connect with you right now. No one needs a minister or priest to intercede or deliver messages. You have the ability to make direct contact with God all on your own.
This Source can be communicated with through the deeper levels of your mind. It is in this mystical state of mind that you receive creative ideas, messages and thoughts. The mystics throughout the ages were all aware of this and it is where profound truths were discovered.
Daily meditation can improve your life in many ways. It can improve your intuition, bring spiritual awareness and even guidance. It may help you feel grounded, centered, more confident, closer to God and improve your mood.
Some are able to see visions, have premonitions, be inspired and more optimistic. All without any mind-altering substances. Some even notice an improvement in the quality of sleep. Plus it's all natural.
It has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety and provide a mental break which can also bring clarity and direction on what to do in your life.
The personal ego gives way to the Higher Self. The sense of personal selfhood dissolves and is replaced with a feeling of connectedness and oneness with the Universe, or with God. It's a profound and life changing experience for many.
And it is totally free. It only costs you a little of your time. Time that is well spent. The only catch is you have to set aside time daily and make it a part of your practice. Are you willing to spend 10 to 20 minutes a day with God to improve your life?
I invite you to try it for a week or 30 days. There is so much to gain from this simple practice. Are you ready to expand your horizons and get enlightened?
God bess you, have a great week and Namaste.
